Anyone is Welcome

In other words, you don’t have to identify as a Christian to be part of the wider City Church community. The truth is that we’re all learning the art of belonging – to God, to each other, to the city – and, although we’re ever a work in progress, we aspire to be the kind of community where you really can’t think of anywhere you’d rather be.

A Community with Jesus at the Centre

Whether it is a Sunday morning or midweek get-together; fiestas, feasts or football; Sabbath Sundays or social action initiatives like The Well or Welcome Cafe: our aim is a rich network of community life that has Jesus at the heart of it.

We could expand at greater length on various activities in the life of the church, but ultimately, community is a participation thing – there’s no substitute for simply getting involved!

Students & Young Adults

It’s great to be able to welcome thousands of students (and young adults) to York every year! If that’s you this year, come check us out one Sunday with the bonus of student lunches across the Autumn term – we’d love to get to know you and serve you in your time in York!

At City Church, we’re passionate about equipping, discipling and connecting students and young adults into the life of the church, and developing community together. We have a dedicated Students & Young Adults WhatsApp group, where you can find out more and stay up to date with what’s going on. If you’re new, drop us a message and we can add you to the chat!

Beyond York

God’s ultimate community of the Church spans worldwide, and City Church is part of the Christ Central group of churches (part of New Frontiers) which has churches in the UK, Europe, the Americas, and Africa. In recent years, it’s been a particular privilege to support leadership training in Zambia, building projects in Ghana and send people and resources to help the Gud Först church plant in Gothenburg.
